Love Ponies? If you love ponies, you'll love the Pony Club. You'll enjoy the friendship, the activities, learning more about ponies, riding and looking after them and most of all having fun! All this while you have the oportunity to gain internationally recognised achievement badges and qualifications. Valley Farm is a Pony Club Centre, which means that children who join through us do not need to own their own pony to take part in all The Pony Club activities.
What can you do at Valley Farm Pony Club Centre? We offer:Rallies - These take place on set days every half term and holidays from 9.00 am - 4.00 pm We have games, quizes, riding, jumping, vaulting, carriage driving, western riding, you can gain your Pony Club achievement badges, have fun and make friends.
Summer Camps - Our residential riding holidays take place throughout July and August. Stay for 3 or 5 days with your favourite pony! Children join us from all over the country for our Pony Camps. You get a fantastic opportunity to try out loads of equestrian sports, and improve your riding and horsemanship. See our Summer Camps page for more information.
Optional Training sessions - Every Saturday and Sunday you can join in for three hours of riding, stable management and practical horse care. Older, more experienced children who have gained some of their certificates may be invited to stay for the day.
Pony Club Tests - Each member works at their own pace towards the various Pony Club Tests and achievement badges. Tests for each level are held regularly when there are enough members who are at standard. While working towards the D, D+, C and C+ standards, children have the opportunity to gain bronze, silver, gold and platinum certificates in riding and horsemanship as they improve.
Achievement badges - During the weekend training sessions and rally days children work towards the Pony Club achievement badges. The Pony Club Achievement Badge Scheme is a fun way to gain greater knowledge of horsemanship and the countryside.
The following bagdes are available: Access to Endurance, Bandaging and Rugs, Bird Watching, Blue Cross Equine Welfare Merit, British Native Breeds, Butterflies and Moths, Care of the Horse's Foot, Countryside Access, Dressage Arena, Equine Behaviour, Equipment Safety, Farming, Feeding, Fire Marshal, First Aid (equine), First Aid (Human), Fitness, Flags, Flowers, Fund Raising, Handling and Grooming, How to be Lunged, Knots, Loading, Loinery, Map Reading, Mucking Out, Perfect Paddock, Plaiting, Points of the Horse, Poisonous Plants, Public Speaking, RDA Volunteering, Road Rider, Saddlery, Security Awareness, Shoeing, Star Gazer, Tack Cleaning, Trees, Turnout of Pony and Rider, Wildlife, Working Dogs, Worm Control. Some badges are much harder than others, and chidren would not be expected to get them until their late teens. There is also a range of mini badges for the younger members.

What does Pony Club aim to do?
- To encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding.
- To provide instruction in riding and horsemanship and to instil in members the proper care of their animals.
- To promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty, thereby cultivating strength of character and self discipline.
Membership - Valley Farm is a registered Pony Club Centre. If you're under 25 and you are not lucky enough to own your own pony, you can become a member at our centre. Membership forms are available from Reception at Valley Farm. Non members can join in with the activities but cannot be awarded certificates or badges.
Costs - Annual enrolment payable to the Pony Club is £25.00.

The Pony Club is an international voluntary youth organisation for all young people interested in ponies and riding. It was founded in England in 1929 and granted independent charitable status in 1997. It is now represented in 27 countries and has a membership exceeding 110,000 making it the largest association of riders in the world.
