Valley Farm Diary - January 2012

Another year dawns in the varied life of Valley Farm!

This month started...

... with a few gales so some time was spent in clearing fallen trees which soon turned into cross country fences. Once the children returned to school things fell quiet for a bit and we were able to catch up on some of the stable tasks giving the horses time in the Pamper Parlour‘ where they endured the attentions of the electric groomer and some tail washing. We also welcomed Lola for three weeks of intensive western training with her owner and later in the month saw the arrival of Bracken Hill, a darling Dartmoor pony.

Highlight of the month were the results of the Champions of Champions BALE Award (Best Alternative Land Enterprise) hosted by the Suffolk Agricultural Association and sponsored by Ashton KCJ. This year the competition was between all the previous winners of the award. (We won it in 2005) We were totally thrilled when we won the Environment Award and a cheque for £100.00.
