Valley Farm Diary - September 2013

The fantastic weather continues. The ponies have been enjoying their...

...holidays in the fields after the busy summer. David and I grabbed a few days holiday in Blackpool because we took Chloe back to uni there after she had been staying here all summer helping with pony camps.

Esme, one of our Alpacas was scanned and confirmed to be pregnant. That will be exciting next Spring then.

Ten of our horses attended the Make A Wish show at Easton Farm Park where the good weather continued making a wonderful day for all concerned.

There was a worrying moment when the willow tree containing our owl nest box split in half and fell down for no apparent reason. Luckily the box was on the piece which remained standing. The baby owls were not amused and hissed at everyone who was clearing up the fallen pieces. I'm not sure what they thought of the chain saw!

Towards the end of the month we welcomed the judges of the SAA's BALE award. (Best alternative land enterprise). We won't hear the results until the end of October.

Also, Beauty our Shetland pony gave our staff a heart stopping moment when she stepped onto the reeds one morning and vanished into the dyke! Poor Nikki and Josh got very wet and smelly pulling her out!

And finally..... my first Grandson put in an appearance. Now that really is news!
